Class for dancers
My class aims to sensibilise our ear and body in order to raise the awareness of our inner musicality. Knowing how to lead our hearing in a differentiated matter towards a given music, is to me one of the keys to enrich our personal dance. Through improvisation, choreography and composition tasks, we will work on the connection between music and movement. To discover their relationship and take advantage of their elements such as rhythm, dynamic, melody, phrasing, accents, and silence. Allowing our understanding to reinforce movement quality and use of space.
At times, as dancer and interpreter I have experienced uncertainty when it comes to the communication of music. Because of this, I intend to transmit basic theoretic music terms during my class. Being able to express ourselves distinctly when we talk about music and it’s components in a creative research, is to me an important and helpful tool in our work with choreographers and as choreographers.
Class for musicians / non-professional dancers
A subtle and sensitive listening of our body is the focus of this class. We are getting in touch with ourselves, discovering and identifying sensations and emotions and wish to express them through movement in a creative and personal way. Improvisation, choreography, composition, partner, and group tasks are lenses within which we will work on aspects like the notion of the centre of the body, its weight, our gaze, the space and its directions, quality of movement and touch. Aiming to create the bridge between music and movement and observe their influences on each other, the connection to the music and the participants musicality remains a priority during the process.
My class intends to transmit tools and share experiences and sensations which influence and enrich our daily work. In addition to that, I believe that development of body consciousness through dance helps us to strengthen self-confidence in general.
