Sur le théâtre des marionnettes, précédé de l’élaboration de la pensée par le discours - Heinrich von Kleist (2023) by Gilles Lambert, Le marcheur sur la lune

The unbearable lightness of beings

With Heinrich von Kleist, who committed suicide at the age of 34, we are still close to the abyss. But from this abyss emanates a bright light, that of a fruitful thought. This is how she reveals herself in the essay “On the puppet theater” (1810) where it is ultimately less a question of puppets than of the human condition. Because in the absence of maintaining illusions that serve as crutches, the Prussian poet knows how to nurture a dialogue. The one he leads with Mr. C, a dancer at the opera, does his best to put man in his place: which is not the center of the world but a periphery where other species grow. Qualified as a "sparkling piece of philosophy with reason and grace", this precious summary of existential dramaturgy testifies that there is no other alternative than original innocence or divine omniscience.

Supported by a shock crew, Gilles Lambert takes control here of a high-flying reflection rich in philosophical vertigo.
